I know a little flower Whose beauty is so rare It grows along the hedgerows In the countryside so wild

Its flower is so precious Gentle, soft and sweet With thorns so sharp and prickly It’s very seldom picked

It can be moved and planted In city plots and pots And will at first appear to live Before it slowly fades and dies

My dearest Mum I hope This letter finds you well You see I had not realised How sick you had become.

I know I’ve been a trial To you throughout the years But you’ve stayed so true and loyal Supporting, calm and loving.

Although you tried preparing me For what was clear to you I stuck my fingers in my ears And tightly shut my eyes.

So now dear Mum the time has come To offer you my love And help you take this massive step With dignity and courage.

We’ve shared so many memories Of good times and the bad But yet we’ve stayed together As best friend usually do

You’ve always been there for me Like I have been for you So let me say a special thanks For just being who you are.
